The Modular Construction Division applies the company's successful unit construction technique to diverse projects for clients in such industries as electric power generation, waste disposal, refining and petrochemicals, and floating prisons.

Northrop Grumman Ship Systems Avondale Operations can pre-fabricate equipment or plants in large, fully outfitted modules; package units which are shippable and installed fully assembled in the field; or kits which include all materials required for field-erected facilities.

Major projects utilizing prefabrication techniques included a 192 megawatt hydroelectric power station; a floating detention facility; a sulfur recovery unit and turbine-compressor units for Saudi Arabia; turbine-pump units for Mexico; condenser unit for an American nuclear power station; cryogenic gas separation systems; waste treatment plants; sub-sea oil completion units for a major oil company.
