Litton Ship Systems Full Service Center holds ribbon cutting ceremony

PASCAGOULA, Mississippi, June 23, 2000 -- Litton Ship Systems (LSS) officially opened the headquarters facility for its Full Service Center (FSC) here on June 23, with speakers declaring that the center will offer new and expanded services to the Navy and other customers. The new Litton Ship Systems Full Service Center (LSS FSC), was established on March 1, and joins Litton Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula and Litton Avondale Industries in New Orleans, Louisiana, to form the 17,000-employee LSS organization.

The Full Service Center was established to offer its customers a full range of research and development, design, analysis and life cycle support services, in conjunction with the two LSS shipyards, as well as a worldwide network of fleet support offices already in place.

"You now have under one business roof the full service litany of everything it takes to keep our ships at sea and keep them running the way they are supposed to be running," said Rear Admiral William W. Cobb Jr., USN, Program Executive Officer for Theater Surface Combatants, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition. "The direct contributions that Litton Ship Systems employees make, even the ones that seem mundane, mean a lot to the everyday sailor at sea. This is an extremely important service this company can provide and has already provided for years."

"Today, we are positioning ourselves to be extended partners with the U.S. Navy as the Navy carries on its vision of doing business in the future," said Jerry St. Pé, Chief Operating Officer of Litton Ship Systems and Executive Vice President of Litton Industries. "This will enable us to participate much earlier in the shipbuilding process and to continue to participate in full service contracting until the ship is decommissioned. This is what we now offer the Navy with our three companies under Litton Ship Systems."

"We have a very strong emphasis on the concept of 'full service to the fleet'," said Dr. Larry Cavaiola, President of LSS Full Service Center. "We will continue to provide to customers an extended commitment for the development and design of complex ships, to their logistics support, to the planning, engineering and management of their maintenance and modernization. This is a new company with a new vision...new spirit...and new identity. Our trademark will be to offer the full range of services to our customers and to offer it as the best value to our customers and to the American taxpayers."
