Operations Boat Division
  
Northrop Grumman Ship Systems Avondale Operations Boat Division was founded in 1987 to meet growing demands for all types of smaller craft for the armed forces, municipal governments, and private industry. Proven techniques developed for larger vessels are applied successfully to construction of all types of boats. Avondale Operations Boat Division's approach to new-boat design, engineering, and assembly has received customer acceptance.
The Boat Division has the capabilities, experience, and resources to design and construct gaming vessels, oceangoing tugs and barges, river barges, and offshore support vessels. Aluminum and glass reinforced plastic (GRP) are also in the Boat Division's portfolio for crewboats, patrol boats, ferries, and excursion boats.
Facilities are located in Gulfport, Mississippi, and Westwego, LA, and provide easy access to the Gulf of Mexico and Industrial Canal. The site includes a fabrication building which has approximately 200,000 square feet under cover that offers an efficient climate-controlled construction site.
The Boat Division is supported by the fully-integrated expertise of the Shipyards Division, noted for its competitive pricing and high quality fabrication and assembly of marine vessels, from relatively simple barges to complex warships.
